Realtime Data Visualization on GLYN EVBM16C/62
View a graphical output of data transmitted in real time from the evaluation board to your webbrowser. Connect a tty-terminal to the board to alter the transmitted data and see the result at the moment. Please note that your web browser has to support a java virtual machine (JDK standard 1.1 or higher). You can get java plugins for the most common webbrowsers at: http://java.sun.com.
The PCs supported operating systems are:
- Windows XP
- Windows 2000
- Windows ME
- Windows 98
In general there are two different ways to connect the board and the PC, either the board or the PC establishes the connection. As SEVENSTAX supports both methods the examples below also demonstrate the different possibilities.
How to prepare the demos
At first connect UART1 of the evaluation board to a free COM port of the PC where the boards tools are installed. This COM port will be used to flash the demo code and establish the PPP/TCP connection between PC and board. The cable to be used is delivered with your evaluation board. You also will need a cable of this type at the next step, so be sure you have a second one ready to hand.
At second connect UART0 to another free COM port (same PC or any other) and copy a tty-terminal programm (like MTTTY) onto this PC. Start the tty-terminal, setup the connection settings (38400Bd, no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no flow control, disable DTR/RTS) and establish a connection (in MTTTY press the Connect button).
Now download the demo and follow the installation manual included in the zip-file.
1. PC establishes connection: DOWNLOAD DEMO
2. Board establishes connection: DOWNLOAD DEMO
If yor PC runs at Windows98 or WindowsME you will have to install a special modem driver (nullmodem_dial_up.inf) delivered with these examples. This driver enables Windows98 or ME to establish PPP connections using a serial port.

After starting the demo, you will see a graphical representation of data received from the board continuously.

The tty-terminal displays informational messages and you can modify the data transmitted to the webbrowser by entering + or - into the tty-terminal.
